– “Story of a Conquest” painting exhibition will be opened at University of Kyrenia…

The “Exhibition of Conquest: The Story Of A Conquest” organized by the Foundation of University of Kyrenia in memory of 445. year of conquest of Cyprus by Ottoman Empire will be opened on 1 August 2016 at 18:00 hours by Prime Minister Hüseyin Özgürgün.

According to a press statement released by the Press and Public Relations Directorate of University of Kyrenia the Exhibition of Conquest, which will take place on the campus of University of Kyrenia in Kyrenia Town, will comprise works related to conquest of Cyprus, such as origilan oil paintings, ship models, Ottoman flags, charts and engravings related to Cyprus and Levant, ceramic paintings, replicas of 16th century navigational tools and information boards. In this respect, gathering of Ottoman navy in southern shores of Anatolia, their struggle with Venetian navy in northern shores of Cyprus, battles took place at the shores and seaside, siege and conquest of Nicosia, camps of Ottoman troops around the castle and the locations of battalions and artillery batteries, siege of Famagusta and joint attack of Ottoman army and navy to the Famagusta city.
