According to the press release from the Directorate of Press and Public Relations of the University of Kyrenia, Prof. Dr. İlkay Salihoğlu, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, made an explanation regarding the studies and institutional difference of the University of Kyrenia which started its educational life as a distinguished higher education institution.
Prof. Dr. Salihoğlu indicated that as a new and distinguished higher education institution of TRNC, which aims to be a worldwide university center, the University of Kyrenia began its educational life with devotion and commitment to paving the way for TRNC to become reputable not only as a university center but also as a worldwide center on maritime and aviation education and training. “Offering maritime and aviation education to more than 650 students coming from 15 different countries in the first year of its establishment, the University of Kyrenia will realize a first in our country’s history by cultivating the first aviators of the country. In this regard, the students of the University of Kyrenia will leave a significant mark in country’s history; the mark of the firsts. The maritime and aviation industry have a crucial role on the global economy in our century. Taking the maritime heritage of the sister university-the Near East University, the University of Kyrenia taking the public interest forefront and within the frame of its fundamental objectives is committed to producing highly qualified seafarers and aviators through quality education complying with national and international standards and criteria. Since maritime and aviation are closely related with the human life and quality services for humanity, standards set by national and international organizations cannot be ignored even in the slightest sense. In this regard, the city of Kyrenia will be mentioned not only as a place of touristic attraction, but also one of the world’s rare centers on maritime and aviation training within a short time.
