The University of Kyrenia is opening the exhibition of “Cyprus and Naval History from Past to Present” within the scope of naval history studies on the new campus of University of Kyrenia in Kyrenia. The exhibition will be opened by Hüseyin Özgürgün, President of UBP-National Union Party on 26 November at 14:30. A naval journey will be realized at the exhibition, which is the first to be opened on campus of University of Kyrenia.

According to a press statement released by the Press and Public Relations Directorate of University of Kyrenia, the exhibition which will be opened by Hüseyin Özgürgün, President of UBP, will be open between 26 November – 8 December 2015 on new campus of University of Kyrenia in Kyrenia Town.

In exhibition, of which the curator is Prof. Dr. Alirıza İşipek, several oil paintings depicting the Cyprus maritime history from ancient times to the present day, the models of the Kyrenia boat and other vessels made of wood, Cyprus map drawn by Piri Reis, various engravings and portolans depicted on Iznik tiles that tell about the Cyprus naval history will meet with visitors.

Mrs. Cemre Günsel Haskasap, Founding Rector of University of Kyrenia, made a statement about the exhibition and said that they are experiencing the excitement and happiness of the first exhibition that will be opened on campus of University of Kyrenia, and the first and the only Faculty of Maritime Studies of our country has been carrying out important studies on the naval history. Cemre Günsel Haskasap, stating that the Faculty of Maritime Studies of University of Kyrenia has been marking the firsts in maritime issues and was established to a centre of attraction and reference in maritime issues. Haskasap also pointed out that to take a pioneering role in future of maritime issues, first of all, aspects of historical issues must be known, and they have realized the exhibition with this respect.

The exhibition can be visited between 26 November – 8 December, between hours 10.00-16.00 on new campus of University of Kyrenia in Kyrenia Town.
