University of Kyrenia will provide uninterrupted service for Turkey’s aviation sector

The sector reports confirm that the needs of civil aviation sector will gradually increase in the coming years and consequently the need for qualified personnel will rise rapidly.

Based on the reports of Turkish Civil Aviation Assembly, the Rectorate of the University of Kyrenia made explanations concerning the issue by stating that the needs of civil aviation sector in Turkey and in other parts of the world would gradually increase in the coming years and the sector would experience challenges in finding qualified personnel.

According to Turkish Civil Aviation Assembly report, the civil aviation sector is one of the sectors, which makes an important contribution to the country’s economy in terms of the number of its employees and the flow of income. Today the number of employees is 150,000 and the revenue is over 15 billion USD and these are expected to increase even more in the years ahead. According to Turkish Civil Aviation Assembly report, the air transportation is developing faster than others, and the number of passengers has risen 14,3%, and total air traffic (including over-flights) has risen up 10% on average in the last decade. In the same period, the increase in the number of planes in airline fleets was 128%, in seat capacity 136%, and in cargo capacity 318%, while the total number of domestic and international destinations reached 241; in terms of number of flight destinations, Turkey ranks amongst the top ten countries in the world. The activities regarding civil aviation is in a growing trend all over the world and this brings up an ongoing increase in the number of passengers, and a rapidly growing need for qualified personel to undertake these activities.

According to data from International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), 5, 8 billion passengers were carried in 2012. In Turkey, compared to other countries, there have been great increases in passenger and cargo transportation in 2012. From 892.139 in 2011, commercial air traffic went up 7, 5% to 958.969 flights. The civil aviation investment by Turkish companies in foreign countries is over 10 billion USD.
