University of Kyrenia conducted seminar on history of North Cyprus Ports

Seminar on History of North Cyprus Ports conducted by Enver Yetkili, lecturer of University of Kyrenia. State officers interested in the subject, lecturers and students attended to the seminar.

According to press info released by Press and Public Relations Directorate of University of Kyrenia, Shipmaster Enver Yetkili, the writer of Yesterdary, Today and Strategic Importance of Cyprus Ports, conducted a seminar focusing on development of ports of Famagusta, Kyrenia and Gemikonağı ports in historical process and their importance in Middle Eastern region.

As a first, the development, establishment, and economic and political roles as well as historical roles of Famagusta, Kyrenia and Gemikonağı ports were presented in historical process through demonstration of exclusive visual materials such as hand made maps, rare aerial photos and graphics at the seminar which was followed with a great interest by the participants.

Shipmaster Enver Yetkili, already carrying out his academic studies and teaching for University of Kyrenia, graduated from Marine Academy of Turkey in 1969, following graduation served in marine sector until 1974 war in Cyprus, returned to Cyprus in 1974 and participated in development and establisment of Famagusta Port under Turkish Cypriot State, and worked as a shipmaster, Director of Port and then appointed as the General Director of Ports.
