I. Günsel received the ‘International Technology and Innovation Award’ in Paris

Business Initiatives Directions (BID) granted the ‘International Technology and Innovation Award’ to Near East University,sibling university of University of Kyrenia, for its solar-powered vehicle, NEU-RA-25, which was made by the Ar-Ge Teams of Near East University.

According to the press info release from the Directorate of Press and Public Relations of Near East University, the ‘International Technology and Innovation Award’; which is a highly prestigious award recognised worldwide and which has so far been rewarded to 178 different institutions from different countries from around the world, for their outstanding achievements. It was added that the Award was presented to the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Near East University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. İrfan S. Günsel at the Science Convention that was held in Paris.

It was also stated that on behalf of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Near East University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. İ. Günsel, had made a speech at the Science Convention, to which there was a high rate of attendance. In his speech, Günsel stated that Near East University (NEU) had more than 25 thousand students from almost 100 different countries, creating an international university profile. He also added that the NEU was known for its pioneering initiatives in Northern Cyprus and that the fact that the NEU was receiving the International Technology and Innovation Award was a source of pride both for the Near East University itself, as well as the Turkish Cypriots as a whole. Additionally, Günsel stated that the Award was highly appreciated by the university and that it had motivated the country, the Turkish Cypriots alongside the Near East University for further efforts to achieve success.

The Science Convention has brought scientists and business men from 178 countries together…

The statement ended by pointing out that with the aim to nurture international cooperation, Business Initiatives Directions (BID) awards granted by considering criteria such as the; European Union Quality Management Criteria; Quality Evaluation Criteria of Japan; and USA Baldrige Performance Excellence Program.
