Graduates of University of Kyrenia in World’s Seas

Over 90% of world’s commercial transportation are carried out throughout seas in our present day, and hundreds of graduates of University of Kyrenia and Near East University, the sister university of Kyrenia, are conducting various duties in world seas.

Need for qualified mariners in world seas…

In the press info released by University of Kyrenia, it has been referred to the data revealed by BIMCO-Baltic and International Maritime Council. According to info provided by BIMCO, over 1.3 million mariners are serving in seas throughout the world and the need for qualified sailors, especially for those who are proficient in English language, is gradually increasing. Between 2010 and 2012, around 7,500 new commercial vessels have joined the maritime sector.

Marine transportation in Turkey increased to 388 million tone from 349 million tone within two years…

In the press release, within which was reminded that the University of Kyrenia, accredited by both YOK and YODAK, is offering well-qualified training in both English and Turkish languages in full accordance with requirements of IMO, Ministry of Transportation, Maritime and Communication of Turkey, it has been referred to data provided by General Directorate of Maritime Trade which is a part of Ministry of Transportation, Maritime and Communication. According to data provided by General Directorate of Maritime Trade, the transportation capacity of Turkey in import, export, cabotage, and transit cargo increased to 388 million tone from 349 million, which is an increase equaling to 39 million tone in total transportation facilities, and the number of passengers used marine transportation facilities is over 850 million within the same period of time. Besides, it is stated that the number of foreign passengers who visited the ports of Turkey increased to 2.9 million from 1.7 million, the number of touristic vessels increased to 1587 from 1367, and the need to qualified maritime staff is increasing day by day.

Graduates of maritime studies are in much demand…

Graduates of University of Kyrenia, the only university specializing on aviation and maritime studies of our country and of the nearby region and giving education in English at the international standards, are in much demand in the maritime sector and they are employed as soon as they graduate from their departments.

According to information given by the Press and Public Relations Directorate of University of Kyrenia the registrations for 2014-2015 academic year will continue until 5 September 2014.
