Aviation and Maritime sectors of World will be supported with a 80 million USD investment…
Assist. Prof. Dr. Ediz Tuncel, General Secretary of University of Kyrenia, commentated on a TV program saying that TRNC, as a country of universities, has overcomed many difficulties caused by political issues with the help of education sector, each university in the country has its own public benefit at various levels, however, the University of Kyrenia has been established with a quite different mission and aim than other universities. Tuncel, in his comments, stated that the University of Kyrenia was established only to specialize on aviation and maritime studies and educate qualified staff for these sectors as there are extensive needs for qualified staff in these sectors in TRNC, Turkey and in the rest of the world. Assist. Prof. Dr. Ediz Tuncel emphasized that the first phase of the Project of University of Kyrenia will cost 80 million USD and materializing such a huge Project within the nearby geography by any other institution does not seem possible at a near future.

General Secretary Tuncel, underlining that the University of Kyrenia will only focus on aviation and maritime studies and that its public benefit will very different than that of the other universities is indisputable, said that the main mission and objective of the University of Kyrenia will be providing support to fulfill the requirements and qualified staff needs of aviation and maritime sectors throughout the world, as well as making the TRNC a highly reputed international centre in aviation and maritime studies.
Cooperation and Education at international level…
Assist. Prof. Dr. Ediz Tuncel claimed that three universities and ten aviation schools in Turkey are far from meeting the demands of aviation sector of Turkey even at the minimum level, and, said that the University of Kyrenia, with its 16 departments specializing on aviation and maritime studies, is one of the most competent institutions in these sectors, and has the potentials to meet the needs of both Turkey and TRNC. Tuncel also mentioned about the cooperation protocols between University of Kyrenia and other similar well known and experienced institutions within the nearby geography and in Europe.
Unique Opportunity for students; graduate first, be employed, then pay fort he tuition fees…
Tuncel, pointing out that the public benefits and interests are specifically regarded by the university, stated that unlike other institutions which claim very high fees for training qualified staff for aviation sector, the university offers a unique opportunity for students who prefer to study aviation studies and join aviation sector in future; students who will register to departments related to aviation studies will pay their tuition fees after graduation and being employed within a certain period. Tuncel also emphasized that scholarships up to 75% are available for maritime studies.
General Secretary of University of Kyrenia stated that the registrations to the university will continue until 5 September 2014 for 2014-2015 academic year.
