University of Kyrenia to open Amateur Mariner Course

According to press info released by Press and Public Relations Directorate of University of Kyrenia, University of Kyrenia will organize Amateur Mariner and Short Distance Radio Operator Proficiency Courses with support of Marine and Inland Waters Directorate General of Ministry of Transportation, Maritime, and Communication of Turkey. The courses, which is the nineth one is to be organized this year, will take place between 15 April and 30 April 2014 and at Faculty of Maritime Studies of University of Kyrenia, which is currently located on campus of Near East University, the sister university of University of Kyrenia. The courses will be given between 17:00 – 19:00 or 17:00 – 20:00 hours.

At the end of the courses and proficiency exams, the participants will have the right to be conferred upon with internationally valid Amateur Mariner Certificate and Short Distance Radio Operator Proficiency Certificate. Owners of these documents can use ships up to 24 meters in length everywhere in the world.

Applicants must submit a copy of their id cards, a copy of diploma obtained from the education institution that last completed, healt report obtained from Hospital of NEU, 4 passport size photos, if the applicant is below 18 years of age, a consent letter of the parents and a document of residence obtained from the mukhtar of the resident area. The applications must be submitted to Faculty of Maritime Studies of University of Kyrenia which is currently located on campus of NEU.
