The 8th Symposium on Turkish Maritime Commerce History was realised in Istanbul, Turkey. It was expressed that academicians from 40 different universities participated in the symposium. Moreover, it was pointed out that the presentations made over the two days had attracted a lot of interest and that Head of University of Kyrenia Research on Marine History Ali Rıza İşipek had represented the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).

According to the press info release issued by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations of University of Kyrenia, different to the other symposiums held previously, the 8th Symposium on Turkish Maritime Commerce History, the current status of the marine sector alongside its history was revised at the panels held at the symposium. It was also pointed out that the University of Kyrenia Head of University of Kyrenia Research on Marine History Ali Rıza İşipek represented the TRNC and that he had made a presentation titled as “The significance of marine transport in the Provision of Istanbul”.

Making a statement regarding the matter, Representative Rector of the University of Kyrenia Prof. Dr. İlkay Salihoğlu expressed that since the date of foundation, the University of Kyrenia continues to make contributions to science and will be continuing to do so.
