Girne Üniversitesi Vakfı Tarafından Organize Edilen “1. İlkokullararası Matematik Yarışması”nın Finali ve Ödül Töreni Gerçekleştirildi

The final and the award ceremony of the 1st Mathematics Competition for primary schools, which was organised by the University of Kyrenia Foundation, was held on University of Kyrenia campus.

According to the press info release issued by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations of University of Kryenia, the competition was organised with the aim to stimulate enthusiasm and a love for mathematics in students. It was pointed out that the primary schools which achieved to be finalists among the participating 14 schools were Lefke İstiklal İlkokulu, Şht. İlker Karter İlkokulu, Çatalköy İlkokulu, Şht.Ertuğrul İlkokulu and 9 Eylül İlkokulu. Furthermore, it was expressed that the final of the competition was highly competitive and the students from the finalist schools were required to answer 20 multiple-choice questions.

Everyone reached peak excitement at the final…

At the final, Şehit Ertuğrul İlkokulu came with 19 correct answers, whereas 9 Eylül İlkokulu came the first runner up with 18 correct answers. On the other hand, Lefke İstiklal İlkokulu and Çatalköy İlkokulu both achieved 16 correct answers from 20 questions and were asked further questions to identify the second runner up of the competition. As a result, Çatalköy İlkokulu came second runner up of the competition by correctly answering all 4 questions asked. Furthermore, Lefke İstiklal İlkokulu came third runner up and Şehit İlker Karter İlkokulu came fourth runner up.

Mutlu Soykurt: “I would like to congratulate you all and wish you further success in the future”

Making a short speech subsequent to the award ceremony, Head of the University of Kyrenia Foundation Mutlu Soykurt thanked all the participants of the competition, added that he wished to see everyone at the competition the following year and wished everyone future success. It was stated that the ceremony had ended with a cocktail party.
