– University of Kyrenia Foundation, which was established with the Nicosia Domestic Relations Court licence 73/91 and in accordance with the Religious Affairs Law, is currently planning on supporting vocational high-schools.
It was expressed that the University of Kyrenia Foundation would be providing support to students studying in the following schools: Sedat Simavi Industrial Vocational High School; Cengiz Topel Industrial Vocational High School; Dr. Fazıl Küçük Industrial Vocational High School; Karpasia Vocational High School; Haydarpaşa Business High School; Gazimağusa Business High School; İskele Business High School; Atatürk Vocational High School; Gazimağusa Vocational High School; Haspolat Vocational High School; Güzelyurt Multi-Programmed Vocational School; and Lefkoşa School of Fine Arts.
As part of the social responsibility project of the University of Kyrenia, the University of Kyrenia Foundation was established in 2014 and gave scholarships to 25 students who registered to the university’s various departments in the academic year 2015-2016; and gave scholarships to other 15 students for their accommodation at the dormitories. It was revealed that the Foundation was currently making preparations to grant scholarships through projects involving vocational high-schools.

According to the press info release issued by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations of University of Kyrenia, the principle aim of the University of Kyrenia Foundation, which was established with the Nicosia Domestic Relations Court licence 73/91 and in accordance with the Religious Affairs Law, is aiming to play a leading role in making contributions to the Cyprus Turkish education provided at all levels and systematically help promote an understanding of education requiring quality.
In the statement made by the Founding Rector of University of Kyrenia, Cemre Günsel Haskasap emphasised that the University of Kyrenia was founded based on 35 years of experience and shortly after the university was founded, University of Kyrenia Foundation was established, aiming to realise many projects.
Furthermore, Cemre Günsel, stressed that the communal vision of the Foundation was rather like a contemporary reflection, and that the aims of the foundation included; make contributions to the development of Cyprus- Turkish higher education, serve the cultural, social and scientific needs of the Cyprus Turkish community, and trigger participative civil society movement within the framework of education.

In addition to the above, Cemre Günsel emphasised that the aims of the Foundation was to support students who are not able to pay for their educations by facilitating various scholarship grants for the tuition fees or for their accommodation fees. She said that previously they had given grants to 25 students for their tuition fees; and to 15 students for their accommodation fees for dormitories. She Further expressed that they were planning on broadening the project by including the following high schools in the project:

Cemre Günsel added that the goals of the Foundation were: to raise competent individuals to meet the needs of the University of Kyrenia and the country as a whole; provide courses to promote professions of individuals; to help support the productive and service capacities of the University of Kyrenia; support the cooperation between the university and the industry; help develop science, culture and education and make the relevant efforts to protect the environment; conduct research on education and management; systematically work on the improvement of sports and facilitate relative events.
