University of Kyrenia is establishing Sports Clubs

Established to function under the body of Student Clubs of University of Kyrenia, the Sports Clubs will be competing against other teams at matches organised by Sports Federation of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Universities.

According to the press info release issued by the Directorate of Press and Public Relations of University of Kyenia, the Sports Clubs of the University will be competing against teams of other universities in matches such as basketball, handball and swimming, organised by the Sports Federation of TRNC Universities.

There will also be Professional Sports Teams…

In the statement revealed, it was expressed that alongside the sports clubs established by the students of University of Kyrenia, there will also be professional sports teams consisting of both students and others athletes who are not students, and that initially, basketball, handball and swimming teams were to be established.

Assist. Prof. Dr. Hürmüs Refiker: “We wish to both support the talents and competencies of our students, help to promote professionalism in sports in TRNC and eventually trigger an awareness on the necessity of sports in our lives!”

Making a statement on the matter, the General Secretary of the University of Kyrenia, Assist. Prof. Dr. Hürmüs Refiker expressed how pleased they were to facilitate opportunities to support the sports activity needs of the students, adding that besides the students’ achievements in their fields of study, they also aimed to promote an environment where the students can benefit and develop their skills in social and physical competencies. Furthermore, she emphasised that the clubs established by the students of the University will enable them to compete against other teams competing in the matches held by the Sports Federation of the TRNC Universities, and that they were willing to pay their dues to support such significant endeavours.
